Getting started
Choose a look
Your storefront’s look comes from the page builder. The quickest start is a site kit: a ready-made set of colours, fonts, pages and site templates (header, footer and the rest) that you apply to your store and then change as you like. This page explains how to apply a kit and the basics of editing a page.
Open the page builder
- Go to Content → Pages.
- Open any page with Edit with builder. If you have no pages yet, choose New page, give it a Title, choose its Kind and choose Create and open the builder.
The builder opens with the page in the middle, a panel of things to add on one side and the settings of whatever you select on the other.
Apply a site kit
- In the builder’s panel, open the Templates tab.
- Under Site kits, find a kit that suits your store and choose Preview the kit to see it.
- Open the kit. Under What to take, choose the parts you want:
- Design: colours, fonts, text styles, classes and default styles.
- Pages: the home page and inner pages, made as drafts beside your own.
- Templates: the header, footer, blog templates and the other parts of the site, made as drafts.
- Read the summary of what will change, then choose Apply the parts chosen.
Applying a kit never overwrites your published pages: the pages and templates it brings are new drafts. If a picture the kit uses is not in your media library, that space is left empty for you to fill.
The kits on offer depend on what is available to your store. Kits you have used can receive updates later; the builder tells you when a newer version of a kit, section or template you took is available, and taking it keeps your own words, pictures and styles.
Publish your pages
Drafts are only visible to your staff. When a page looks right:
- Open it in the builder.
- Choose Publish. To publish later, open More ways to publish and choose Schedule….
To choose the page visitors see first, go to Content → Pages, open the page’s menu and choose Set as home. Publish the kit’s header and footer templates too, so every page uses them.
Edit a page
- Add something: open the Elements tab and drag an element onto the page, or select a spot and press Enter on an element. The Sections tab has ready-made sections such as a hero, a feature grid or product rails.
- Change text: click the text on the page and type. A small toolbar lets you make words bold, add a link or change the heading level.
- Change the style: select an element and use its Content, Style and Advanced tabs.
- Check other screens: switch the screen size to see the page on a phone and on a desktop. Each screen size can have its own styles.
- Preview: choose Preview to see the page as a visitor would, or Copy preview link to share a draft with someone.
The builder saves as you work. Your published page only changes when you choose Update.
Save your own sections
If you build a section you want to reuse, right-click it and choose Save as section…. It then appears under My sections in the Sections tab. If your organization has several stores, you can share a section with them.
