Moving to Bazuva
Import products from Shopify
If your products are in Shopify, you can bring them to Bazuva with the product CSV file Shopify exports. You upload the file as it is: there are no columns to map. Bazuva shows you what each row would make before anything is created, and you confirm the import when you are happy with it.
Export your products from Shopify
- In your Shopify admin, open your products and choose to export them.
- Choose all products and the plain CSV format.
- Save the file Shopify sends you. Do not open and re-save it in a spreadsheet unless you need to change something; if you do, save it as a UTF-8 CSV.
Import the file
- In Bazuva, go to Products → Import → From Shopify.
- Choose the file under CSV file.
- Choose Upload and look.
Check the preview
Bazuva reads the file and shows What the file would make: one line per product it found, with its name, the address it will get, and whether it is Ready or Refused. A refused row says why under Notes.
The preview is kept for a limited time. Confirm before the time shown, or upload the file again.
If some rows are refused, you can import the ready ones now and fix the others in the file later, or choose Choose another file to start again with a corrected file.
Confirm the import
Choose Import followed by the number of records, such as Import 120 records. When it is done, What was made lists what each row became, with a link to open each new product. If you confirm twice by mistake, nothing is made twice.
What comes across, and how
- Products and variants: Shopify’s file has one row per variant and per image. Rows of one product share its URL handle, and the product’s own details are on its first row.
- Drafts: every product is made as a draft with a new address made from its handle. Nothing is published, so you can check each product before you set it active.
- Categories: a product goes into the store category named as its Type in Shopify. If there is none, it goes into the category mapped to its Shopify product category, and if there is none of those either, a category is made for it.
- Stock: quantities are set at your store’s default location, recorded as an import.
- Images: images are fetched from Shopify into your media library after the product is made, so they may take a few minutes to appear.
- Custom data: Shopify metafields in the product metafields columns come across as custom data fields, one column a field.
- SKUs: a product with an SKU your store already has is refused, so an import never overwrites a product you already have.
After the import
- Go to Products → All products and filter by status to see the new drafts.
- Open a few and check the prices, images, categories and variants.
- Set each product to Active when it is ready. You can select several products in the list and change their status together.
To import products from a spreadsheet of your own instead, use Products → Import → From CSV: download the template, fill it in, and upload it the same way. The template follows Shopify’s product format.
