Your store
Staff and roles
Your team works in the store’s admin panel with their own accounts. Each person on the staff has a role, and a role is a named set of permissions: what that person may see and change. This page explains the built-in roles, how to add someone, and how to make a role of your own.
The built-in roles
Every store starts with three roles:
- Owner: everything, including staff and roles. This role cannot be changed.
- Manager: runs the store day to day, but cannot manage staff or roles.
- Staff: sees what happens in the store and changes nothing.
Owners and admins of the organization that holds the store always have full access, whether or not they are on the store’s staff.
Add someone to the staff
The person needs a Bazuva account first. If they do not have one, ask them to register; they sign in with their own account.
- Go to Settings → Staff & roles.
- Choose Add staff.
- Type the Email of an existing account.
- Choose their Role.
- Choose Add to staff.
The staff list shows each person’s role, whether their account is protected by two-factor sign-in, and since when they have been on the staff. To change a role, choose another one in their row. To take someone off, open the menu at the end of their row and remove them from the staff. You cannot change your own role; ask another owner.
Make a role of your own
If the built-in roles do not fit, for example a packer who only works on fulfilment, or a writer who only edits pages, make a role with just the permissions they need.
- Go to Settings → Staff & roles and find Roles.
- Choose New role.
- Give the role a Name and a description. The description is shown next to the role wherever it is chosen.
- Under What this role may do, tick the permissions the role grants. They are grouped by area, such as content, media, people and store.
- Choose Create role.
Then give the role to people from the staff list.
The roles list shows how many permissions each role grants and how many people hold it. You can edit a role at any time, and the change applies to everyone who holds it.
New permissions
When a new part of Bazuva is switched on for your store, its permissions are granted to nobody until you add them to a role. Owners always have them. Check your own roles after a new part arrives, so your team can use it.
When someone cannot see a page
If a person opens a page their role does not allow, they see a message saying they do not have access, instead of the page. Give their role the missing permission, or give them another role.
Keep accounts safe
Each person can turn on two-factor sign-in and see their open sessions from their account’s security page. Encourage everyone with a Manager or Owner role to turn it on.
